Dangerous Faith

Living a life of dangerous faith is what we have all been called to! What does that mean? This means we recognize that God created us to be Heroic, in the words of my good friend Jodie Howerton who spoke on this recently at an AWAKE conference. Here are the notes that I wrote down that ring deep in my core.
1. You are designed for HEROISM: Romans 5:17 ..."But even greater is Gods wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in TRIUMPH over sin and death though Christ, who loved us."
Nothing about that word Triumph is safe or comfortable. Although we have families and want their safety and we want good for them. Sometimes we can use that comfort as a prison and not allow God to move because we want it to be ''safe''.

2. Cast FEAR aside: Romans8:15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received GODS SPIRIT when he adopted you as his own Children. Now we call him Abba, ''Father''.
We have Gods spirit in us we were not created to be in fear and that could mean any kind of fear. Fear that if you say Yes to God he may send you to Africa :), Fear that if you say Yes He may make you sell your home and move to a smaller one so you can use that money for something He wants you to. Fear that others would think you are crazy and insane (mine:) Who are we that we fear when God is so much bigger than fear itself?
" Who are you that you are afraid of man who dies? And of the son of man who is like grass, that you forget the Lord your maker who stretched out the Heavens and laid the foundations of the earth" Isaiah 51:12

3. Fight to make a difference. James 1:26-27 Pure and genuine religion on the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. My son Josiah read me a funny comic from Charlie Brown out load one day in the van, he was not prepared for his mom to make Charlie Brown spiritual but I could not help.
Linus philosophically quotes a Chinese proverb to his sister Lucy " Its is better to light a small candle that to curse the darkness'' The Lucy in the next sense is shaking her fist and shouting in the darkness "You stupid darkness'' I later found that this quote also used in a John F Kennedy speech in 1960. Darkness is a metaphor for ignorance or evil.
We must fight for the plight of those that do not have a voice, no matter the cost. After all Jesus would do the same exact thing!
Be the small light, its better to be the small candle than to blame the world for being inactive in injustice.
Your fight does not have to be for orphans or widows in distress. This is my fight! It can be for a political cause of injustice in your own government. For a difference even at your child's school! The point is to step forward out of the comfort and make a difference!
Whats your fight? What make you angry and upset/ frustrated and this is your passion this is your fight.
Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12
