Why Africa?

"Look in any city or corner of the world and you will find poverty. But the problems we face in the United States, Europe and Japan simply don't compare to those in Africa. Seventy percent of Sub-Saharan Africans live on less than $2 a day. 200 million go hungry every day. This year alone at least a million Africans, most of them young children, will die of malaria and two million will die of AIDS." (statement and facts collected by DATA, Dept, Aids, Trade, Africa.).

Ethiopia is one of the most impoverished countries in the world, with a per capita annual income of less than US $100. Poverty is both a cause and consequence of HIV/AIDS and contributes to its spread by limiting public access to health education. According to estimates by UN AIDS, Ethiopia will have 7–10 million cases of HIV/AIDS by 2010.

*Life expectancy of Ethiopian women 43 of Ethiopian men 41

* UNICEF reports that in Zimbabwe, a child dies of AIDS or is orphaned by AIDS every twenty minutes.

*HIV and AIDS have killed twenty-one million people, including four million children.

*13 million children left as Orphans, 25% of those live in Nigeria and Ethiopia.

F and I choose Ethiopia because we felt the call of the Orphaned children, it breaks my heart, breaks it, that we can not be the answer to such big numbers. Our prayer is though this journey others will be challenged to open there hearts to children of the African Nation. Help though donations such as sponsorships, Feed the Children, purchase (Red) products where % profit of purchase goes to the Global Fund. A bigger prayer is that some of you will even go on to adopt, I do know adoption is not for everyone. Yet we are all called to care for the Orphaned.
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress ." James 1:27
........that's why Africa!
